About Us
We are a co-ed collegiate a cappella group made up of members from the five Claremont Colleges with a mission to provide students with an opportunity to express themselves through music and grow in leadership by being active members. We strive for excellence while focusing on fun and we encourage each member to grow as a musician, both with theoretical knowledge and performance skills. We accomplish this by accepting students who show commitment, willingness to learn, and have impressive vocal skills. We work as mentors to one another to maintain a close knit group with similar interests in collegiate a cappella music. We also strive to provide the 5C community and the communities around us with high quality entertainment at several concerts and special appearances throughout the school year.
Our History
Founded in September 2009, the Ninth Street Hooligans became the youngest a cappella group at the 5Cs. They premiered at the famous Frary Steps of Pomona College on February 24, 2010 to a standing-room only crowd. They have since delighted a substantial number of people through the years with such hits as 'Lip Gloss' (glam rock style), 'Like a G6' (a classical choral arrangement), and 'Boyfriend' (a jazz interpretation).
